Living downtown offers plenty of perks for the few, the proud, the drunkards. 

First off, home is never more than a soused stumble away at the end of the night.  Next we have the benefit of dozens of bars to choose from on a given night, as well as Denver’s finest liquor store, Argonaut, just minutes away. 

Finally, at least in Denver, we have one of the biggest perks of all, the “City Book”.  City Book is a coupon book that local businesses use to advertise.  It always contains plenty of buy one get one free drink coupons and the like.  In the past, I’d used a few of the coupons once in awhile, but realized I was missing out on some real savings by not making more of a concerted effort. 

Thus was born the idea of the Drunken Sherpa Coupon Crawl. (more…)

Last night I made the rounds in my old Capital Hill hood drinking, eating raw fish and soaking up the setting sun. 

The prior evening I got a hip tip from a waitress about a tasting that was being held the next day at Aqua.  She told me it would include free food AND booze and that the festivities would start at 5PM.

One of my big projects right now involves utilizing public transportation.  Once the south east light rail opens in 60 days (but who’s counting) I plan to ditch my car entirely.  Last night’s outing was no exception.  I had considered taking an actual BUS to my destination (which I haven’t rode, save to the airport, in approximately 15 years) but realized I could use the walk.  (more…)

Fresh off the massive success of their uber-hip “Metropolis” project in Midtown Atlanta, East-West properties is building a monument to urban kewl right here in d-town.  The Glass House is a marvel of technical innovation (upon entering the elevator your condo springs to life adjusting lighting, music, climate, etc to your specifications to greet you when you walk in).  (more…)
