No particular relationship amongst today’s tracks; other than the fact that they’re easy goin down. Like this Johnny Walker Black.
Upbeat, brit-pop treat that owes a bit to Charleton’s U.K, a bit to the Stone Roses and even more to the feeling of running outside as a kid on the first day of summer vacation.
Â
Driving, dark, quasi-goth track with a chorus that’s catchier than mono. Excellent blend of electronics and guitars. With lyrics like “It’s a game that we play and I don’t know if.. I could live with out you..” it’s easy to enjoy the misery.
“Our hopes and expectations.. black holes and revelations..”
Songs don’t soar higher or strike deeper than this. A rock anthem for the ages, ripe with more emotional intensity than it seems possible to endure. Muse’s typical penchant for impossibly solid musicanship, spiraling synths and the operatic vocal range of Matt Bellamy make for a track that lingers with you long after the final notes.  The most impressive masterpiece on an album chock full of them.Â
Mandatory listening.
“My life.. you electrify my life. Let’s conspire to ignite, all the souls that would die just to feel alive..”
